Deco Silver Haze, the perfect modern tones to complement stunning new riverside apartments in London

DC105 Silver Haze

Our latest installation story comes from a luxurious residential conversion project which boasts incredible views across the River Thames, being located where the finishing stretch of the famous Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race takes place each year. Boat Race House in Mortlake, West London has undergone an incredible transformation as the former malt house, which had since been converted for office use, has now been redeveloped into 16 luxury apartments set in this picturesque and sought-after location on the banks of The Thames. The residential redevelopment design focused on a modern interpretation of the historical use of the site, maintaining the building's external features and form while adding a new sensitively designed upper storey to the building, and converting the inside space to residential use creating 16 beautiful riverside apartments. The development features a mix of 14 one, two and three bedroom apartments, plus two luxurious penthouses with outstanding views and spacious layouts. V4 approved retailer, Rawlings Flooring had worked with the developer on many projects over the years and Wayne was contacted again to propose wood floor options for this project. He explained:

"We were asked to suggest wood floors that would reflect the high-end luxurious style of the apartments, as well as complement the contemporary finishes, soft interior tones and riverside setting. We put together a short-list of V4 wood floors we thought could work well – leaning towards their more muted and modern tones to reflect the modern style of these new homes.”

Working with their interior designer the developer chose Deco Silver Haze. The wood features beautiful oak character detailing, which has been lightly brushed to soften the grain, then wood lye is added to further lighten the surface before coloured oils are added to create the unique soft grey tones and ripples found in each plank.

“The floors blend effortlessly with the inside space, working alongside the soft hues used throughout the apartments interior design and finishes, but also create an harmonious connection to the silver ripples reflecting from the outside riverscape.”

Deco Silver Haze wood floors have been installed in all 16 apartments, featuring throughout all the living spaces, hallways and kitchen areas. New raised wood subfloors, finished with latex screed, were completed and underfloor heating installation throughout each home ahead of the installation of some 1500m2 of wood flooring throughout the finished development. The show home for the new development opens in Spring 2018 with completion of all the apartments anticipated later this summer.
