Here at V4, we understand the detrimental impact that deforestation can have on the environment…

To help combat this, we ensure that all the timber used for our floors is responsibly sourced from managed forests. To go one step further, we have also gained third-party certification, including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC®), so that you can have peace of   mind that your wood floors are made using only legally sourced timber.

FSC® The Mark of Responsible ForestryFSC promotes the responsible stewardship of forests around the world; covering nearly 500 million acres globally they are one of the most recognisable forest management solutions. With 10 principles for responsible forest management, you can be sure that when you see the FSC logo on our products, the materials used to make our beautiful wood floors were sourced responsibly from sustainable, well-managed forests in line with FSC standards.

PEFC®

Pefc Label Pefc16 37 1486 Pefc Text Frame 23 189x300PEFC is an international non-profit organisation that works to not only focus on sustainable forest management but working with large organisations, through to family-owned forests, looking at both environmental and socio-economical standards too. With over 800 million acres of forest being managed in compliance with their benchmarks, PEFC is the largest forest certification system in the world.

UKTR

Another certification you will also see across all our products is the United Kingdom Timber Regulations (UKTR). These regulations are in place to ensure that the supply chain of the timber is not only complying with legal harvesting practices but encourages sustainable practices whilst supporting global forest governance.

The Acorn Award

Here at V4 Wood Flooring, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to see which floors are FSC certified, and so we have introduced our Acorn Award so that you can easily recognise our floors with a ‘golden’ environmental specification.

V4 Green Acorn for Sustainability

We are proud to say that all of our wood floors meet the Green Acorn standard which means they have been made from responsibly sourced timber from well managed forests and meet every requirement of  UK Timber Regulations.

 

 

V4 Silver Acorn for SustainabilityThe Sliver Acorn is awarded to floors which not only meet the requirements of the UKTR but also have Mixed FSC® certification, which means the forest-based material in a product is from a mix of FSC certified forests, recycled materials and controlled wood. Controlled wood isn’t FSC certified, but is from forests that have to meet rules set by the FSC.

 

V4 Golden Acorn for SustainabilityOur Golden Acorn is given to floors which are either fully PEFC® certified or FSC®100% certifed. FSC 100% means all of the forest-based material in a product is from FSC certified forests. The Golden Acorn is also given to floors which are made from reclaimed wood or those that use new technologies to minimise the use of hardwood such as Välinge Hardened Wood Flooring.
