Burger & Lobster restaurant opens in Manchester featuring V4 Wood Flooring

Located in a thriving area of the city, close to bars, restaurants and hotels, the area is a popular destination for diners and provided Burger & Lobster with the perfect opportunity to really make a mark in Manchester. Brand and interiors experts for the hospitality sector, DesignLSM were once again tasked by Burger & Lobster to design an interior scheme so the restaurant would truly stand out from the crowd. Karen Mitton from Design LSM said, “Burger & Lobster Manchester is spread across a single storey in Manchester’s King Street. As with all of the restaurants that we work on in the Burger & Lobster collection, we like to change the design a little and install site specific elements where possible, whilst maintaining a common identity and atmosphere that represents the Burger & Lobster brand.

“With this being Manchester we wanted to appeal to a lively crowd, so we installed a DJ area and at the entrance, we introduced a wine and champagne display, which sits on either side of the lobster tanks. This creates quite a point of interest when walking into the building.

“We also placed a big neon display above the kitchen area, which takes influence from the Joy Division album cover for Unknown Pleasures. Joy Division was such an iconic Manchester band that we felt we had to include something like this as a little nod to the local area.”

The team at DesignLSM had been introduced to V4 Wood Flooring at 100% Design last year and went on to specify V4 floors in the Cardiff Burger & Lobster which opened earlier this year. Once again they had a V4 wood floor top of the list when pulling together the designs and specifications for Manchester.

“Both DesignLSM and Burger & Lobster were delighted with look and quality of the V4 floors we had specified and installed in Cardiff, so for Manchester the same floor was selected. It offers the product quality needed, with a beautiful finish that creates a subtle warmth throughout the restaurant.”

The chosen floor offers a wider plank that helps give a feeling of space. With a 6mm top layer of rustic oak that can be sanded and retreated giving the floors significant longevity, this floor was perfect for high footfall areas.

The rich earthy tones of are produced by layers of UV cured colour oils that are buffed into the deep brushed oak surface, accentuating the natural grain. The chosen floorv is also 100% FSC certified for total assurance it is a sustainable product choice.

“Burger & Lobster continues to be one of our main clients. We have a great relationship with the brand, as well as with Goodman Restaurant. They give us a lot of freedom when it comes to the design and we appreciate our involvement with this latest opening in Manchester.”
