A beautiful new build in the Cotswolds with Deco Parquet Silver Haze herringbone floors

This Zigzag case study comes from a lovely new build home situated in the village of Northleach in the middle of the beautiful Cotswolds. The four bedroom detached home features an authentic Cotswold Stone exterior, giving it the appearance of a traditional Cotswold style home, but with modern spacious living and fixtures and fittings inside. Caroline, her partner and their gorgeous cockapoo Bracken moved into the home in autumn last year. The home was comprehensively finished in a contemporary style, however the developer wasn’t including flooring as standard, and instead the new owners were offered a handful of flooring companies they could choose new floors from which the developer would then arrange to be installed. Caroline explained, We absolutely loved the home when we first saw it. It’s in a beautiful quiet setting and we were excited to be making the move from Hertfordshire to the stunning surroundings of the Cotswolds. As a new build everything was going to be new and ready for us to just move in, so we were only left with choosing our preferred floors, which the developer would then arrange to install.

"Modern parquet flooring certainly appeared to be making a comeback and whenever I spotted them in interior design magazines or online I really loved this style of flooring, so when the developer gave us the option of choosing floors from a list of manufactures the job was made easier as we had already narrowed it down to a parquet style wood floor."

V4 Wood Flooring was one of the wood floor companies the developer had given to Caroline so she headed to the website. Seeing the Deco Parquet collection and knowing that this herringbone style of wood floor was exactly what she wanted she ordered free samples of her preferred finishes in the collection.

“The process was really simple and the samples arrived very quickly. We arranged a visit to the new build home so we could view the samples in situe and make our choice. I was already keen on the Silver Haze finish. It had such a lovely blend of grey tones and natural oak grains which created a really unique finish. It was also mid-tone and I didn’t want anything too light or too dark.”

“Once we spread the samples out in the home we both agreed this was the perfect choice. The tones really complimented the doors, finishes and cream kitchen beautifully. They blended so naturally with the rest of the home. Happy with their choice the developer ordered and arranged installation of the floors with local V4 retailer Corinium Carpets in nearby Cheltenham. They completed the installation of the floors in the hallway, office, lounge and dining room. The herringbone blocks flow in the same direction throughout the spaces for a seamless finish without any transitions between rooms.

“It wasn’t long after the floors were installed that we completed and moved it. We absolutely love the floors. They look fabulous and are just gorgeous to live with. They feel naturally warm underfoot, create a lovely flow to the home and the mid-tone adds just the perfect amount of contrast and texture while still giving the downstairs of the home a lovely feeling of space and natural light.

“They’ve been really easy to live with. I give them a vacuum every few days to pick up any stray fur from Bracken, but other than that they only need a light wet clean every month. I’ve been using the Wood’s Good cleaning spray and mop for this which is incredibly quick and simple. We’re really settled in now and enjoying life in our new home. We’ve still got some decorating to do and at some point plan to update the tiles on the kitchen floor, possibly with the same wood floors, as we couldn’t be more pleased with our choice of the Deco Parquet Silver Haze herringbone floors in our new home.”
