The first part of the project was to upgrade the upstairs. With extremely creaky old floorboards and tired carpet this was a priority and would be the catalyst to completing the four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor.
“Replacing the floor boards was essential, they really were in poor condition. I contacted my local flooring retailer, Kingshill Carpets who were able to recommend a local carpenter to complete this first phase of the works.
“Impressed with their service we went back to see if they could help us with the actual flooring. I was keen to have wood flooring upstairs as I think it is more modern than carpet and also much more practical with two young children who are prone to spillages.
“We had traditional oak flooring in our previous home and I wanted to do something a bit different here and had grey tones in mind. We considered a laminate option but agreed we wanted to go with real wood in the end for the higher quality and aesthetics it offered over laminate flooring.”

New to the V4 Woodflooring range Rachele chose Eiger Petit Grey stained wood floors. The wood exudes soft grey tones that have blended perfectly with her choice of white and grey wall coverings to create tranquil bedroom spaces.
The grey stained 5mm oak top layer accentuates the brushed grain, which is then fully protected with layers of durable lacquer.
The floor combines both the rustic character of oak with contemporary grey urban tones which work well in any modern interior design, and the hardwearing brushed lacquered surface is perfect for a busy household and requires very low maintenance.

“I’m really happy with the finished floors and grey colour scheme we have created. It’s stylish and soft for the bedrooms and upstairs landing and the real wood feels lovely and warm underfoot.
“I love the fact it is so easy to keep clean too, a simple vacuum and it’s done and you can see that it is completely clean, unlike carpet.
“It’s been great with the kids and I’m now just buying final furnishings to finish off the upstairs, looking at grey wardrobes along with a few co-ordinating rugs. We’ll move onto the downstairs next year but for now I’m delighted with upstairs and am really happy we chose the Eiger Petit Grey wood floors which have delivered the modern edge we wanted.”
