Interior Designer Charlotte Drinkall from Shere Madness completes a beautiful ground floor renovation using V4’s Bespoke flooring solutions.

Interior Designer Charlotte Drinkall was no stranger to creating beautiful designs for her clients at Shere Madness. So, when homeowners of this Guildford house asked for a total redesign of their family home, Charlotte knew exactly how to create a beautiful space for her clients. When discussing the brief, Charlotte explains:

“Brilliantly the design brief was ‘make my house look like your house’. Music to any designer’s ears! We also had to create a study, utility room and master suite hence the extension. And a previous owner had removed all the period features, so we wanted to get many of them back in.”

However, the redesign did not come without its challenges. Beginning the process just weeks before Covid-19 presented additional obstacles, with lockdowns and delays with building materials, Charlotte explains:

“The family moved out in February 2020, the rip out began and then we went into lockdown in March. At one point we had a huge 6ft wall made up of bags of plaster running through the house as the builder had managed to get his hands on the only supply in the Southeast! We managed to get the client back in for their October deadline with one room left to finish.”

Charlotte describes the overall design of the home as ‘classic, but with a modern edge’. To aid this design, the flooring chosen was a bespoke colour, that offered deep rustic tones. The brushed stained and lacquered floor was perfect for creating a contemporary and durable floor that was able to add a modern effect whilst nodding to a classic wood flooring design. When discussing what Charlotte liked about the bespoke floor, she states

“It’s a lovely rich, warm colour and the plank is classic so will have great longevity with her clients also being overjoyed with their floors they love it! It worked so well throughout the whole of the ground floor”.

One of the most outstanding rooms in this renovation is the beautiful kitchen. Complete with a Martin Moore design, this kitchen perfectly contrasts the deep tones of this bespoke V4 Wood Floor to create a clean design. From Martin Moore Kitchen’s deco collection, the kitchen units are created with luxurious materials, offering a contemporary design that draws inspiration from 1930’s architecture.

The kitchen units have been finished with Farrow and Ball paint in Ammonite, with this shade also featuring on the walls, enhancing the light in this grand open plan room, creating stunning impact.

Finally, the natural Flat Rattan Counter Stool from Cox and Cox adds a splash of colour, perfectly completing this classic yet modern design.
