Period style home gets a complete renovation with the help of Victoria and Emily from KERV Interiors

ZB101 Frozen Umber

Interior design firm KERV Interiors is home to interior designers, Victoria, and Emily who together have over ten years of industry experience and aim to make beautifully designed spaces available to all. Having worked on many amazing projects, as seen in their portfolio, the friends were excited to take on the task of a full house renovation of this period property.

When discussing the project at hand, Victoria and Emily explain the overall design aim for this beautiful project:

“This was a full house renovation. It is a period property, so we brought back features such as hallway panelling to recreate a contemporary take on the traditional features. The client wanted a fresh and airy feel. They wanted a contemporary home – and most importantly wanted it to be homely. This was created by introducing subtle colour and using multiple textures in each zone.”

To perfectly create a design with subtle colours and multiple textures, KERV Interiors chose Frozen Umber Herringbone for the client’s flooring, as part of V4’s Deco Parquet collection. The hardwearing floor is brushed, stained and complete with a hardwax oil, making it a perfect floor choice for busy homes. Not only that, but this beautiful floor houses a multitude of neutral, grey and brown hues adding a contemporary twist on the traditional flooring style – perfect for this client’s design!

“The clients were keen to have herringbone wood floors in their house, so this was something we were going to incorporate from the start. We looked at many options, but we loved the Frozen Umber because of its variations of wood and texture within the planks. It brings depth to the space and is a real wow factor. We also put in underfloor heating – which V4 is compatible with.”

Throughout the home there are brilliant pops of colour, most noticeably with the brilliant wall colours, creating a beautiful contrast to the overall neutral colour pallet. When asked about this design decision, Victoria and Emily explain:

“The client wanted a neutral kitchen, and the main colour palette throughout the house to be neutral. We put forward a navy sofa, which the client fell in love with – so we pushed the design slightly more and chose two complimenting colours. It was a risk – but one that paid off as the client was over the moon with the end result!”.

As shown below, the neutral colour pallet runs beautifully throughout this kitchen, with light colours and gold and brown features throughout. The shaker style kitchen cabinets add a great sense of light to the kitchen and perfectly compliment the herringbone flooring design. Whilst the brown leather island seats and gold cabinet handles add brilliant depth to the neutral pallet. When discussing the kitchen, interior designers Emily and Victoria note:

“We love the size of the island. It is for a couple who wanted a kitchen for entertaining, the island is the perfect space for people to come together. The light over the island is also a beautiful feature that makes that zone stand out.”

When asked what, in their professional opinion, they love about herringbone flooring, Emily and Victoria explain “We love that it brings another design element to the rooms. It’s a statement in itself. Although it is currently a trend the style is timeless”. Before going on to say “We have used V4 in a few projects now – and love the finish. It is a great product and very reasonably priced for the quality.”
