The home was in very good condition, offering them all the space they needed, but they were keen to modernise the décor to put their own stamp on it and create their ideal family home.
Keen to create a calm and neutral scheme the old wallpaper was removed and the child unfriendly cream carpets in the downstairs spaces removed.
Marni explained, “We knew the existing carpet was not going to prove very child friendly and as we both like wood floors we were keen to install them throughout the downstairs spaces. Having visited a number of retailers we were impressed with the V4 collection on display in Blackheath Flooring.
“Key to our choice of wood flooring was firstly a sturdy and quality product, which the V4 floors definitely seemed to be, but also a wood floor that was very natural, with character and blemishes that would have the practical benefits of hiding any marks in the future given the use by our toddler.”
They selected Urban Nature Weathered Beam. The Urban Nature collection was designed to create floors inspired by city spaces reclaimed by nature. Weathered Beam features a rustic oak top layer that has been hand finished and stained with a hard wax oil treatment.
The timber is selected for its character filled knots and natural blemishes which are filled and then sanded individually to leave open knots and holes which give the appearance of an aged and weathered plank that maintains a contemporary feel.
The floors were installed by Blackheath Flooring throughout the downstairs running from the entrance, through into the open plan lounge, dining and kitchen spaces.
We are so happy with the floors. They look great and are super practical with a toddler about as cleaning them is so quick and easy. They add the perfect layer of warmth and character to contrast with the neutral colour scheme we wanted.
