What is Engineered Wood Flooring?
All engineered wood flooring starts with a sturdy base of layered plywood, which in the case of our Driftwood collection is then cut with secure lock system fittings around each plank. Then comes the top layer (which we call a âlamellaâ) which is made from high-grade European oak, and is finally micro-bevelled on four sides to give a smooth and seamless look when connected.
Finally, our skilled team of craftspeople in Yorkshire step in to brush and treat the oak surface, depending on the tone and texture we want to achieve â for example, the Driftwood collection wears our UV lacquer, which provides brilliant all-round protection and an unbeatable look.

All the timber we use, from our European oak to our multi-ply base, is sourced from FSC-approved managed woodlands. These plots are specifically cultivated to meet supply demand without harming the surrounding ecosystem. For every tree that is taken, several fast-growing saplings are planted in its place, which feeds the cycle and ensures our environmental impact is kept at an all-time low.

The best ways to prepare for my wood flooring installation?
Engineered wooden boards need time to properly acclimatise in your home before they can be laid. So finish off any leftover building work, and then let the boards sit in their original packaging for at least one day. This will allow the wood to naturally settle into the new internal temperatures and humidity.
If this step is skipped, your new floors may warp and even crack once they have been installed.
Can I install V4 engineered wood flooring myself?
For the best quality results, it is best if you rely on qualified professionals to lay your new floors. Some engineered wood will need certain underlay, and some underfloors are more complicated to manoeuvre around â especially those with underfloor heating systems installed.

What is the best way to look after my new wood floors?
Our Driftwood engineered wood flooring is simple to fit and look after. Aside from generally keeping the area tidy by sweeping and vacuuming regularly, as you should with any type of flooring, you can elevate your approach further by:
