At V4 we focus on creating beautiful wood products which let you bring nature inside, and we constantly evolve our bespoke flooring collections to deliver the ultimate palette of wood floor finishes, colours and size options to meet the latest trends.
And one of the big trends that looks set to continue this year is the demand for modern parquet and herringbone style wood floors.
While maintaining the original approach of creating a beautifully patterned, low maintenance wood floor, parquet floors in the 21st century have come a long way, no more so than our Zigzag collection, which quickly ranked as one of our most sought after collections in 2018.
We originally based the collection on six of our most popular wood plank finishes from our Deco and Urban Nature collections, where contemporary oak surfaces are produced from a combination of hand finishing and colouring techniques to produce deep lustred boards which offer a distinctive palette of tones. Taking these popular wood plank finishes, we re-created them as ultra stable precision engineered oak blocks.
Offering a simple tongue and groove installation method akin to wood floor planks, the installation of a parquet floor becomes quick and easy without any compromise on style or authenticity with Zigzag.

Adding complete versatility, Zigzag can be installed in a host of laying patterns, from traditional herringbone style to basketweave and multiple block formations – resulting in a high quality, long lasting wood floor that oozes parquet style to set off any interior space, big or small.
The floors have featured on TV and in some notable featured installation stories in recent months.
George Clarke’s Old House New Home series on Channel 4 showcased a Victorian home in Hove where the couple were completing a kitchen extension to modernise and open out their living space. They chose Zigzag in Brushed and Lacquered Oak finish as the oak wear layer is sealed with a durable natural lacquer making the floors particularly durable for use in kitchens. The finished floors run through the kitchen and into a beautiful dining and living area.

Showcasing the beautiful finish wood floors can deliver in bedroom design, a Cotswold barn conversion chose Zigzag in Natural Oak for its bedrooms, creating a natural blend with the original wood beams, whilst also providing a clean modern backdrop to newer plastered finishes and minimalist design.

The darker tones of Zigzag in Tannery Brown were an inspired choice for a Manchester new build. The owners had quite a minimalist and neutral taste and wanted the floors to add a layer of warmth and contrast. The resulting space maintains a bright, spacious feel with the floors adding subtle movement and warm oak character.

And if you’re an avid instagram user you may have come across Simon and Clemmie Hooper, also known as mother_of_daughters and father_of_daughters. They wanted parquet style floors with a modern yet aged appearance to blend with the Victorian features in their Kent home. They chose Zigzag in Frozen Umber for their authentic oak character and naturally aged appearance which complemented the finished living room design beautifully.

Our Zigzag collection is now available in ten different styles offering smooth to rustic finishes in a spectrum of colour tones. You can view the full Zigzag collection here and why not take a look at more of our featured installations and be wood floor inspired.
