Trends have a habit of making a comeback and in the case of wood flooring the comeback king of the moment is parquet style floors.
Parquet flooring dates right back to the 1600’s when wood blocks were introduced to replace marble floors which required so much washing it caused problems with rotting floor joists.
While maintaining the original approach of creating a beautifully patterned, low maintenance wood floor, parquet floors in the 21st century have come a long way.
No more so than our new Zigzag collection.
Firstly we have taken six of our most popular wood floor finishes from our wood plank ranges Deco and Urban Nature. The contemporary oak surfaces are produced from a combination of hand finishing and colouring techniques which produces deep lustred wood floors which combine rich oak textures with modern colour tones.
Then we have produced the Zigzag herringbone floors as ultra stable precision engineered wood blocks which overcome some of the installation difficulties of solid oak blocks. The 4 mm oak top layer is bonded to a hardwood ply base which makes it suitable for use with any flat subfloor and underfloor heating, as well as being a much more environmentally friendly choice than solid oak blocks.
Finally we have added a tongue and groove installation method akin to wood floor planks. The floors can be fully bonded with fast curing solvent free adhesive, so the installation of a parquet floor in a striking herringbone pattern becomes quick and easy without compromising on style or authenticity.
The result is a high quality, long lasting wood floor that oozes parquet style in a herringbone formation to set off any interior space, big or small.
