Engineered Wood Flooring Planks

V4 Wood Flooring specialises in Engineered Wood Flooring, a modern and more sustainable alternative to solid wood flooring. With engineered bases, you can capture the same amazing look of a solid wood floor, without having to compromise on durability and versatility. We invite you to browse our many collections of engineered wood planks.

What is Engineered Wood Flooring?

Engineered Wood Flooring looks very similar to solid wood, and when laid correctly is impossible to differentiate. However, what makes engineered wood different is its construction, specifically its engineered base. The wear layer – the lamella – is precision milled from hardwood, predominantly solid oak in our collections, and is crafted to either a multiply or three-ply engineered base.

What are the advantages of Engineered Wood Flooring?

There are many advantages to using engineered wood flooring over a solid wood plank. not only is engineered wood more practical, but it is also a more sustainable building choice, and offers you a great price point for your design.

With V4’s collections of engineered wood flooring, the top layer ranges from 2mm to 6mm of hardwood, before being backed onto engineered bases made from fast growing spruce, poplar and birch timbers. By doing this, the yield from a single tree is increased by up to 60%, meaning fewer slow growing hardwood trees are used in the process – making engineered wood flooring a much more sustainable design choice.

Because of its stable base, engineered wood flooring is also suitable for underfloor heating – an increasingly popular heating choice in modern construction. Unlike solid wood flooring, engineered wood is made up of multiple layers, which means it is far less affected by fluctuating temperatures, making it a suitable choice for underfloor heating.
