Whether its natural cork or our wood look floors, Cortejo Luxury Cork Flooring is made almost entirely from the bark of the quercus suber or cork oak, which is native to the Alentejo and is one of the most common tree species in Portugal.

The outer bark is harvested from the trunks of these ancient trees every nine years. In making cork, the tree is not harmed – as cork trees regrow their bark and can live for centuries, sustaining ancient eco systems and protecting dozens of rare species of flora and fauna, whilst supporting a traditional rural lifestyle.
